Hey, what kind of dog is that?

We get that question a lot when out with James and his origin has always been a mystery. He seems to have some Shepard but maybe something else a little smaller? Alison always guessed terrier. So we were pretty excited to find out about the Canine Heritage DNA test that with a simple cheek swab would match your dogs DNA to 38 of the most popular breeds in North America. In August we sent off some cheek cells and we just got James' results back! And of course, the results were surprising!

Turns out James is not mostly ANYTHING. His DNA didn't return a primary or secondary major contributer to his DNA. Instead we only got hits in the following category:

"In the Mix – This final category identifies breeds that have the least amount of influence on your pet’s composition, however, they still appear, at a low and measurable amount, in your pet’s DNA."

So what was in James' mix?
Dachshund
Belgian Tervuren
Italian Greyhound
Miniature Pinscher

Crazy huh?

Well regardless, we still think James is the handsomest thing on the block. Right James?
